Summer has begun

Today begins the day of summer vacation. The difficulties of having children out of school and keeping them occupied has presented itself rather abruptly.

It was nice to have slept in especially after this weekend but both kids out of school and what to do. I think swimming over at the Schrier's will be one activity.

Jake will be attending a Special Communication Class every Monday and Wednesday in Carmichael. His bus ride will be an hour long to get to and from his class, but he really needs to go.

Kathleen will be bridging to Brownies(Girl Scouts)this Thursday and is working on her first "Try it " badge of "Hobbies". For this she has to figure out a hobbie or collection that she has and bring it to the meeting and present it to her Troop. I think she is leaning towards her paintings. At least that's what she was telling her Troop.

MAZALTOF!!!

It was a busy weekend.
The last four days I have been missing my precious sleep. Instead opting to keep myself awake with caffiene to perform necessary daily activities. The end of the school year seems to get busier every year. We also had a wedding this weekend that consumed most of the days leading up to the weekend and throughout the weekend.

My outlaw Michelle and my niece Miranda stayed with us to attend the wedding. Nephew Luke stayed at Aunt Barbara's as all the cool guys were there to hang out with.

The wedding was in the evening outside, with a 10P.M. curfew. We didn't get home until almost 11P.M. and as we go to unlock our front door with our 4 year old Jake draped across Steve's shoulders, unconscious and two overly tired 7 year old girls who had danced the night away, only to find the pins in the door lock have frozen so that the key won't even go in. We try repeatedly to no avail. Then I run over to our "On Site" manager's apartment, bang on their door. Nothing. No answer. So, I go back to trying to unlock the door and then Steve hands me Jake and he tries to open the front window. I know from experience that this is not going to work as my neighbor and I tried to get into her house one time using the same technique when she had left her car keys in the house and we ended up breaking the window. Luckily Jimmy, my neighbors brother had just walked in the gate we called him over. His idea was to jump our patio fence and go in through the sliding glass door. We said sure. He got in no problem the back door was unlocked. We got in and all of us fell to bed with utter exhaustion. All is good with exception to our front door lock.

Kathleen was the cutest flower girl. She performed her duties very well. She was a little warm and anxious, but I was proud of her.
The ceremony was very nice and made me want to cry. I told myself not to cry, they haven't even started talking yet!
My cousin Nick successfully married his bride Stephanie and they are jetting off to the Bahama's as we speak. Mazaltof!

Days off?

Why is it that my day off during the week is more busy than when I am working?
Kathleen had a end of the year school party which I volunteered for and then I had to jet over to Jacob's Preschool Communication class for an end of the year party there and get back in time to meet Kathleen when the bus dropped her off.

To start the day Steve had to take the Nissan in to get a nail removed from the driver side tire which was found last night after Heather got off work at 10:30 P.M. in El Dorado Hills. My savior was a co worker named Phil who had an electric pump and followed me home to make sure I made it safely to my destination. It was suprising to me because he has the persona of a gruff non-caring kind of guy. People suprise me!

Anyway, the tire was fixed for free. Go Les Schwab! Kids partied out!

Now for housework as we have guests this weekend.
This evening we have a wedding rehersal to attend . Kathleen is the flower girl in my cousin Nick's wedding.
Really a nap is in order, but as I am the axle for the world turning and the housework being done, the nap will go the way of being a mere notion.
